A 63-year-old man is in custody after police say he stabbed an employee at a Southeast Portland convenience store on Wednesday morning.

Officers were called out about 6:45 a.m. on reports that someone was threatening an employee with a knife at Everyday Food Mart located near Southeast 70th Avenue and Southeast Foster Road

While en-route to the location, they learned the woman had been stabbed.

They arrived to find the victim holding down the suspect, 63-year-old Michael Delsman, even though she had stab wounds in her front and back.

Officers took Delsman into custody without incident.

Emergency responders started first aid and the woman was later taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Delsman was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on first-degree assault.
