Kids prepped for winter fun: 'it's easier to do here than in the snow'

EUGENE, Ore. -- As the winter snow starts to build up in areas around, Travel Lane County spent Saturday at the Cascades and Coast Center in Springfield teaching kids how to hit the slopes.

Children from around the area got the play-by-play on everything from gearing up to properly using a ski lift.

Experts from Hoodoo, Willamette Pass, and Berg's Ski Shop all helped kids prepare for future winter fun.

Leif Williams from Hoodoo Mountain Resort said that it is

"Sometimes its tough to get in and out of this equipment and it's easier to do it here than in the snow," Williams said.

Parents received maps of northwest ski resorts while volunteers also doled out advice on how to safely drive up to the mountains.

"It's a great opportunity for kids to come and really learn about what they can do throughout the region and for parents to learn and pick up the resources they need," Lisa Lawton of travel Lane County said.
