Jogger, 17, collapses, dies: 'In these shoes she took her last steps'
ROSEBURG, Ore. - Her clothes are still on the floor.
The room still has her scent.
The only thing that's missing is Bailey Whiting.
"She brought so much joy into this world," said her mother Tina Dixon. "Everybody she touched was happier."
Dixon said she was jogging with her daughter on Sunday along Roberts Creek Road.
"There was a car stopped on the other side of the road," she said. "Then I noticed Bailey slumped over right here."
A memorial service has been scheduled. So has an autopsy in hopes of determining what caused the 17-year-old's death.
Dixon said she isn't ready to put down the shoes Bailey wore Sunday.
"In these shoes she took her last steps," she said. "They brought her to wherever she ended up. These shoes carried her there."
