EUGENE, Ore. - After being on the verge of shutting down, a South Eugene book store that has been a staple of the community for years will stay open after all.

Tsunami Books, on Willamette Street, has been in business for more than 22 years. Managers said it would have to close if $300,000 wasn't raised by this year to renew the lease.

Manager Scott Landfield had hoped the money would be raised, and is now excited to give back to the community that has given to him.

"It's been a very heart-filled adventure that I have loved," said Landfield. "It's hard getting up to face it everyday, but it's extremely rewarding and humbling, and I look forward to another 10 years of really getting to know people and growing this community the way it wants to grow."

The fundraiser for the new lease concluded last week on January 15th, and Tsunami Book Store has secured yet another lease to stay in business.
