'It breaks my heart, but I know that's where he has to be for his people'
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- A Springfield woman is holding onto hope as her husband sits in a Sudanese jail, accused of being a terrorist trained by the CIA.
Nancy Dawod's husband, Rudwan Dawod, was arrested last week during a protest.
Sudanese officials accuse him of being a terrorist who trained with the CIA.
Nancy insists her husband, who is originally from Sudan, is innocent.
She says Rudwan was back in his home country doing peace and reconciliation work, an effort he was extremely passionate about.
Now, all she wants his for his captors to set him free.
"It breaks my heart, but I know that's where he has to be for his people, and he is a spark for this revolution, and they say now we are all Rudwan," said Nancy Dawod.
Nancy Dawod is pregnant with the couple's first child.
She said she talked to Rudwan by telephone Tuesday afternoon. He told her he is fine and is being held with 12 other detainees.
