SAN MATEO COUNTY, Calif. – The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office will assume the search for a missing Portland woman after surveillance footage confirmed she was in the county on Friday, July 6th.

Previously, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office had been the leading investigative agency. However, they said that the missing woman, 23-year-old Angela Hernandez, traveled south on Highway 1 into Monterey County around 9:30 a.m. Friday.

They say video surveillance from businesses off Highway 1 confirmed this.

Deputies say Angela Hernandez was traveling to Southern California to visit family when her family suddenly stopped hearing from her. Before she disappeared, Hernandez’s family said she would talk and text with them several times a day during her travels. When they hadn’t heard from her in three days, they thought it was unusual and called police.

On July 6, Hernandez told family she was back on the road and headed south after spending the night in her vehicle at a Safeway in Half Moon Bay, California.

Investigators believe she is driving a white, 2011 Jeep Patriot with Oregon license plates 436KSQ.

While Detectives don't have any signs of foul play, they do call Angela's disappearance suspicious.

Hernandez’s family is offering a $10,000 reward for anyone who knows her whereabouts.

Anyone who has seen Hernandez or her Jeep should call Detective Currie at 650-363-4051 or the anonymous tip line at 1-800-547-2700.
