Honor Flight: 'I've waited 50 years for that'

DENVER - Veterans on the South Willamette Valley Honor Flight received a hero's welcome when they changed planes in Denver on Friday en route from Portland to Washington, D.C.

After being saluted, hugged, kissed and thanked, Lowell Cooper of Eugene said, "I've waited 50 years for that."

This weekend, 46 veterans - survivors of World War II and the Korean conflict - will for the first time visit their memorials in Washington, D.C.
