HazMat response to claim of 'neurotoxins' downtown
EUGENE, Ore. - A woman who entered the old federal courthouse asking for helping and talking about "neurotoxins" sparked a hazardous materials response downtown that closed High Street from 6th to 7th avenues.
HazMat crews investigated the woman and the contents of a metal cart she had with her.
They found only towels, clothing, papers and magazines inside.
Medics were evaluating the woman.
A reporter on the scene could see the Region 2 HazMat team sorting through the contents of the cart around 1:15 p.m.
Eugene Police, Homeland Security, the fire department and the state fire marshall all responded to the scene.
