Fire engulfs pickup near gas station

ROSEBURG, Ore. - A pickup went up in flames on a city street in front of a gas station Tuesday evening.

Around 6:30 p.m., firefighters responded to a call reporting the truck was on fire NE Stephens Street.

According to witnesses at the scene, two people were in the Ford F-150 stopped in the middle of the street in front of the 76 gas station.

"They looked back and the whole bed was on fire, it was engulfed," said witness Alan Vogelpohl. "The guy turned around and tried to pull the rig in here" to the gas station. "I was over here yelling 'no, no' because we've got too much fuel underground right now, and you know it's fumes that make things go up."
