Fire crew saves groceries from trunk of burning car
ALBANY, Ore. - Firefighters rescued bags of groceries from the trunk of a car before flames engulfed the rig Monday evening on Interstate 5.
The duo in the car, returning from grocery shopping, escaped injury.
Fire and police got involved when Trooper Don Rummer spotted the 2001 Toyota Camry stopped on the shoulder of I-5 with smoke coming from the engine around 6:45 p.m.
As Rummer approached the car, the engine caught fire.
Rummer called dispatch to summon firefighters, then tried to knock down the flames with a fire extinguisher.
Firefighters got the groceries from the trunk before the Toyota went up in flames.
