Farm mower sparks 3 acre fire in harvested field near Lebanon

LEBANON, Ore. -- Fire crews responded to a 3-acre fire near Lebanon on Tuesday that was sparked in a harvested wheat field.

The fire spread into a nearby field after burning through some brush off Tennessee Road.

The Lebanon Fire officials said the fire started when an agricultural flail mower blade hit a rock and threw sparks.

Crews arrived on-scene at around 2:50 p.m. Tuesday to find a nearly three acre fire being pushed by ohm eight winds, Lebanon's Assistant Fire Chief Gordon Sletmoe said.

The 9 responding fire units, aided by a neighboring fire vehicle, had the fire under control by about 3:10 p.m. Tuesday.

There were no injuries, and the burned areas had already been harvested, fire officials said.
