Families gather to celebrate the meaning of Christmas
EUGENE, Ore. - Christmas Day might have different meanings for everyone, and in today's day and age, it's easy to forget the true meaning of Christmas.
Presents, stockings, food and festivities are all taking place on Monday for Christmas, but certain families made sure not to forget why they're really celebrating by attending their traditional Christmas Day Mass.
Regardless fo where you come from or what language you speak, the meaning is universal.
"It doesn't matter, it's about unity," said Adalberto Monest, the Spanish Choir Leader at St. Mary's. "You know, for many reasons there could be fore some other races in the Spanish mass, the mass is universal, it's the same."
Among those singing on Christmas Day is Leticia Rivera, part of the St. Mary's Spanish Choir. She says that she has been singing since she was a little girl, starting in Mexico and continuing here in Eugene, following in her families footsteps.
This Christmas, St. Mary's was packed with families, couples, musicians and Clergy, all gathering to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
