ODOT plans a series of full closures June 14 and June 15 as crews remove the rocks from Highway 20 near Eddyville.

Hwy 20 will be closed Wednesday, June 14 from:

  • 7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. (open 9:30 p.m. - 10 p.m.)
  • 10 p.m. – 12 a.m. (midnight) (open midnight - 12:30 a.m.)

After midnight as Thursday, June 15, begins, the road will be closed:

  • 12:30 a.m. – 2:30 a.m. (open 2:30 a.m. - 3 a.m.)
  • 3 a.m. – 5 a.m. (one lane open from 5 a.m. on through the day)

The closures resume Thursday night at:

  • 7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. (open 9:30 p.m. - 10 p.m.)
  • 10 p.m. – 12 a.m. (midnight) (open midnight - 12:30 a.m.)

The closures continue Friday morning at:

  • 12:30 a.m. – 2:30 a.m. (open 2:30 a.m. - 3 a.m.)
  • 3 a.m. – 5 a.m. (one lane open from 5 a.m. on through the day)

If crews need more time to work on the project, closure will resume on the same schedule Monday, June 19, into Tuesday, June 20, ODOT said.

"The west end curve is the last half mile of roadway to be built for the U.S. 20 Pioneer Mountain – Eddyville Project and is scheduled to be completed in September," Oregon DOT said. "The curve in the existing roadway is being straightened by moving the roadway away from the river."

The project has been plagued by delays and cost overruns.

At one point, pillars for an overpass had to be demolished after landslides caused them to shift.

It opened to motorists last October 11 years after the project started and more than $200 million over budget.
