EUGENE, Ore. - Rotarians filled two 40-long shipping containers with donated medical equipment bound for the new women and children hospital in Ethiopia established by Holt International of Eugene.
The Eugene Delta Rotary packed equipment donated by Slocum Center in Eugene.
The equipment will go into use at the Mother and Child Maternal Hospital in a rural community with no hospital for 50 miles.
The equipment is expected to arrive in the port in Djibouti in October or November. Holt staff will arrange transport to Shinshicho, Ethiopia.
HOlt is working with Human Bridge, a Swedish organization volunteering to coordinate the donated equipment from the U.S. Human Bridge added two additional containers of medical equipment from Sweden.
"This has been an amazing collaboration of caring local volunteers, businesses and organizations coming together to help children and families they will never see, but whose lives they will touch for years to come," said Phil Littleton, Holt International President & CEO.
