Eugene Police: Suspect in two armed robberies on Halloween is arrested
EUGENE, Ore. -- The combined work of Eugene Police patrol units and property crimes detectives resulted in the arrest of a suspect wanted for two armed robberies, Eugene Police Department said.
The robberies took place at See’s Candy and Dari Mart within the same half-hour on Halloween night.
At 6:53 p.m. on Halloween, October 31, EPD officers were sent to an armed robbery at See’s Candy on Coburg Road where they conducted an area check with negative results, police said. The suspect fled in an unknown direction.
15 minutes later, at 7:08 p.m., there was a second robbery at Dari Mart on Monroe Street. Police say the suspect used a knife to rob the convenience store of cash and then fled. His description matched that of the suspect who robbed See’s.
EPD Property Crime detectives went to work on the two robberies, seeking surveillance images and developing leads.
Just before 4 p.m. on November 7, one of the detectives spotted the suspect near Four Corners.
The suspect was identified as 26-year-old Jeremiah Charles Owens, listed with no address.
He was arrested and charged with two counts of Robbery in the First Degree.
