Eugene police on scene of body found in water

EUGENE, Ore. -- Police and firefighters recovered a man's body from Amazon Creek Monday morning behind Bike Friday on West 11th in Eugene.

Eugene police say just before 10 a.m., a passerby saw the body in the water and called it in.

We don’t know yet who he is or how he got there.

The medical examiner is now examining the body as police continue their investigation.

Police also found a wheelchair in the water and are investigating whether or not that belonged to the man.

Eugene-Springfield Fire personnel arrived to help retrieve the body.

Police say the call first came in at 9:41 a.m. Monday.
