EUGENE, Ore. – Two scary incidents took place Saturday near the Valley River Center in Eugene and police are warning citizens to be alert.

Eugene Police are investigating an attempted carjacking and an attempted kidnapping.

Both women were approached by men in the parking lot.

The first incident happened just before 9:30 Saturday night near the movie theater entrance.

Eugene Police Department says when a 19-year-old woman got into her car a man opened her driver's side door and demanded she give him the car.

She was able to push him away and lock the door.

The suspect, described as a white man in his late teens, walked off toward the bike path.

An hour and a half later, a 35-year-old woman got into her car parked at the Olive Garden where EPD says a man opened her door and tried to pull her out of the car while a second man stood watch.

She was able to push back and close the door.

Those suspects also ran away. They’re described as white men in their early 20s.

Neither women were hurt, police said.

Call EPD if you have any information on these incidents.

EPD reminds citizens to never walk alone late at night, walk in lit areas, be aware of your surroundings, and lock your doors as soon as you get inside your car.
