Earlier deadlines, online application for Eugene 4J school choice
EUGENE, Ore. - The Eugene 4J School District now allows families to apply online to attend the school of their choice.
But the deadline to apply for school choice is earlier than in years past.
In the Eugene district, parents may choose their child's school, provided there is space available, according to the district.
Families can enroll in their neighborhood school at any time.
For those interested in enrolling in a different 4J school for 2014-15, now is the time to learn more and submit a school choice request, the district said.
Requests are accepted in an order determined by lottery.
The district's new online school choice lottery system allows families to log in to check or revise applications, as well as to find results after the lottery has been conducted.
Previously families had to wait to be contacted by their requested schools to find out whether there was a space for their child.
The school choice application deadline is earlier than in past years. Families who live within the Eugene School District may submit requests to be included in the school choice lottery until Feb. 28 at 5 p.m.
The application period for out-of-district residents starts March 1 and continues until April 1 at 5 p.m.
