Do cardboard boats float? Sometimes

EUGENE, Ore. - Eighth-grade students from Shasta Middle School traded their pens and paper for paddles.

The students tested their new knowledge of buoyancy by building boats out of cardboard and tape.

The teens took the boats out for a spin around Echo Hollow Pool on Friday.

Some were more successful than others.

Nathan Stahl told KVAL News that he and his buddies put a lot of hard work into their design - even if it barely made it out of the blocks.

"When I look back at it, I'll just look back at it and say, wow, what a fun day we had," he said.
