      Deputy pulls man from river

EUGENE, Ore. - A sheriff's deputy pulled a man from the Willamette River on Thursday.

The transient man was lethargic when his rescuer got him out of the water, the Lane County Sheriff's Office said.

No word yet on his condition. A sheriff's spokesperson declined to release any more information about the man pulled from the river, saying the homeless man had attempted suicide.
