ALBANY, Ore. - As many as five armed suspects wearing ski masks and bullet-proof vests robbed a medical marijuana grow in Linn County early Wednesday morning, the sheriff's office said.
Deputies said the suspects forces their way into two homes on the same property in the 39000 block of Santiam Bluffs Road, at around 3 a.m. The property is north of Albany.
The suspects use zip ties to bind two men, 66-year-old Robert Bender and 27-year-old Frederick McKenney, during the robbery, according to the sheriff's office. Neither man was injured.
Deputies say they do not believe this was a random robbery. The suspects targeted the homes because they are grow sites for medical marijuana patients.
The suspects stole a large amount of marijuana, several firearms and an undisclosed amount of cash, deputies said.
