Deadly semi-truck crash blocks Hwy 20 east of Bend

BEND, Ore. -- Police say a man died Sunday afternoon when his semi-truck rolled over on Highway 20 just east of Bend.

The crash happened at around 2:50 p.m. when a commercial truck driver towing two trailers lost control and rolled the truck onto its top, police sergeant Keith Taylor said.

Officials said the rolled truck and trailer blocked the westbound lanes of the highway near milepost 21, about 4 miles west of Millican, Ore.

State police confirmed that the crash was fatal after initially reporting that the crash caused serious injuries Sunday afternoon. Police said that the driver was wearing a seat belt.

The trailers were hauling recycled metal and vehicle parts which spilled onto the road during the crash.

The Oregon Department of Transportation said that drivers can expect delays while crews work to clear debris from the two westbound lanes.
