COQUILLE, Ore. -- The North Bend husband suspected by police of killing his wife made his first appearance in court on Monday.
Wayne Hagner, 44, was in court being arraigned on charges of murder and possession of a deadly weapon.
The charges were placed in connection with what authorities say was the murder of his wife, Anna Hagner, in North Bend on Saturday.
Police booked Hagner into the Coos County Jail on murder charges after they found the body of Anna Hagner, 57, inside the couple's home on Marion Street.
"He was outside when the police officers arrived," said Coos County District Attorney Paul Frasier. "I don't know if he was waiting or not, because the call did not come from that house, it came from another location."
While Hagner is facing a charge of possession of a deadly weapon, Frasier says Hagner was not armed when officers arrested him.
The case goes to a Grand Jury later this week and Hagner is expected to enter a plea next Monday.
