Crash spills 300 gallons of sewage onto I-5

TUALATIN, Ore. - A sewer truck that slowed for traffic on Interstate 5 was hit from behind, sending around 300 gallons of sewage onto the highway.

The crash happened around 12:15 p.m. Monday on I-5 northbound near the I-205 junction.

According to the Oregon State Police, an SUV was slowing down for traffic in the far right lane and a sewer truck that was behind the vehicle slowed down as well. That's when a semi-truck slammed into the back of the sewer truck, pushing it into the back of the SUV and spilling the sewer waste.

Both the driver of the sewer truck and the SUV had minor injuries but they did not require hospitalization.

The driver of the semi truck, 44-year-old David V. Towns of Fresno, California, was not hurt. He was, however, cited for following too close.
