Crash leaves pedestrian with life-threatening injuries
EUGENE, Ore.-- An investigation is underway after a crash that sent a pedestrian to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Melinda McLaughlin, Public Information Director for Eugene Police, said the accident happened at 5:49 p.m. Tuesday night on Royal Avenue, near Danebo Avenue.
Eugene Police tell us witnesses say the pedestrian, a 58-year-old female Eugene resident, was trying to cross Royal Avenue diagonally between Danebo Avenue and Candlelight Drive when she was hit by a westbound Volkswagon Vanagon, driven by a 60-year-old female Eugene resident.
Eugene Police's Major Collision Investigation Team was on the scene at Royal Avenue between Danebo Avenue and Candlelight Drive. The area wass closed to traffic during the investigation.
McLaughlin said alcohol consumption on behalf of the driver is being investigated as a possible factor in the crash.
