County OKs tax break for applesauce maker

COBURG, Ore. - A 20-year-old tax break never before used in Lane County got the green light Tuesday for a proposed apple sauce plant.

County Commissioners OK'd a proposed use of the Oregon Strategic Investment Program, or SIP, for the $25 million plant food company Materne wants to build in Coburg.

If built, the facility would employ 220 to 240 people.
