COOS BAY, Ore. - Independence Day festivities took over Mingus Park on the Fourth of July for the 23rd year.
The day started with the mayor's Firecracker Run.
After the run, a local color guard from the Boy Scouts raised the flag.
Fishing at the pond, walking with "beer goggles" and other activities provided community fun.
"We have the Boy Scouts here, we have the fire departments, fishing derby and all kinds of face painting activities for the kids," said volunteer Angie Anderson.
"We'd like to thank the coos bay fire department for letting us come out and sell hamburgers," said Lane Koster, a Scout.
The celebration ended with the City of Coos Bay's fireworks show.
