Two die after boat capsizes off Depoe Bay
DEPOE BAY, Ore. - The Coast Guard has confirmed that two people are dead off the coast of Oregon, near Depoe Bay.
Crews were searching for possible two more people in the Pacific Ocean on Friday night after a boat capsized, but have since determined that there were only two passengers aboard.
Crews recovered two unresponsive boaters from the water and started searching for other potential missing boaters after the vessel was found capsized off of Depoe Bay shortly before 5 p.m. on Friday.
Shortly before 5 p.m., the Coast Guard received a call from a boater who reported finding a capsized vessel with debris in the water off of Depoe Bay Harbor.
Response crews from Station Depoe Bay and Sector Columbia River were immediate to respond.
Weather in the search area was reported as winds of 10-15 mph and waves at 7-8 feet.
