Civic Stadium sale on Eugene 4J board agenda

EUGENE, Ore. - Should the Eugene 4J School District sell Civic Stadium to the City of Eugene?

Or to a developer working with Fred Meyer?

Or to the Eugene YMCA?

The school board is expected to take a vote on the matter Wednesday night. The superintendent already lent his advice: sell to the city to avoid a protracted rezoning effort.

Only the city wants to preserve the stadium as a stadium, albeit with the help of an as yet unknown private partner.

The Y wants to build housing and a YMCA.

Powell Development wants to build a retail mall anchored by Northwest one-stop-shopping chain Fred Meyer.

The school board early on dismissed an offer from Save Civic Stadium.
