EUGENE, Ore. - The City Council could vote Monday to allow the consumption of alcohol for 6 hours prior to football games at Autzen Stadium.

City codes presently allow consumption of alcohol there for 4 hours prior to kickoff.

"The University of Oregon is requesting a code change to allow alcohol consumption from four to six hours (but not earlier than 7:00 a.m.) in advance of game kick-off time to align with proposed expansion of parking hours," according to a City of Eugene staff report.

The question is on the Council agenda Monday. The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m.

At a public hearing June 18, three people testified in support of the ordinance, according to city staff.

"If approved, the UO intends to the impact of this change at athletic department weekly event meetings. These meetings include representatives from the Eugene Police Department, University of Oregon Police Department, Crowd Management Services, and UO Student Life," according to the report. "The UO will also evaluate the impacts of this change on an annual basis following each football season. The UO intends to hire security to manage the additional two hours of access to the parking area."
