Child hurt when empty pickup rolls into school bus

GASTON, Ore. - One child was hurt when an empty pickup truck rolled down a street and collided with a school bus carrying 15 children in Gaston Monday morning.

It happened on Highway 47 near Park Street at around 8:40 a.m.

One child was taken to a hospital by their parents, according to Gaston Rural Fire District spokesman Ken Bilderback.

The child's injuries were not life-threatening.

No one else was seriously hurt.

The other 14 kids on the bus, who ranged in age from 6 to 17, were transferred onto another school bus and taken to school.

It's unclear what caused the truck to begin rolling.

The highway was closed for about an hour after the crash.
