Burglar used chainsaw to cut open safe during daytime break-in, police say
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - A burglar broke into the house, dragged two safes into the living room - and used a chainsaw from the shed to cut open one of the safes, Springfield Police said.
The lumberjack safecracker succeeded in opening the safe - and setting off the smoke alarm.
The suspect fled empty handing, having forced entry into a safe full of paperwork.
The break-in on the 4900 block of Daisy Street was one of two daytime burglaries reported Monday in Springfield. | CRIME MAP
