SILVERTON, Ore. - A teen suffered a bullet wound to the neck when a bullet fired from a high-caliber rifle at close range ricocheted off a target made of steel.
The Marion County Sheriff's Office investigated the incident and has determined that no criminal charges will be filed.
The bullet hit the 18-year-old in the neck as he and 4 friends shot at a target made of steel. The injured teen got a ride to the hospital, where he was treated and released, the sheriff's office said.

Only shoot on steel targets specifically designed for high velocity firearms
Always follow the manufactures suggestions for minimum safe shooting distances.
Always wear appropriate eye and ear protection when operating a firearm.
