Boy, 6, hit and killed on I-5 minutes after being reported missing from Albany home
ALBANY, Ore. - A 6-year-old boy reported missing from an Albany home was hit and killed by a vehicle on Interstate 5 Monday night, Oregon State Police said.
"There is no indication of any wrongdoing, and the vehicle operators are cooperating with the investigation," state police said in a press release. We will not be releasing the juvenile's name."
The child was reported missing to the Linn County Sheriff's office at 9:33 p.m., state police said.
Four deputies responded to the home and surrounding area at 9:38 p.m., with a K9 unit en route to assist. State troopers joined the search at 9:40 p.m.
At 9:55 p.m., troopers responded to a report of a pedestrian hit by a motor vehicle on I-5 near milepost 230, 3 miles south of Albany.
"The preliminary investigation determined that at least one commercial motor vehicle struck the pedestrian, and 2 other vehicles may have been involved," state police said. "The pedestrian was the 6-year-old missing juvenile."
