Boy, 12, hit by car in crosswalk seriously injured

EUGENE, Ore. - A car hit a 12-year-old boy crossing Main Street in marked crosswalk Wednesday evening around 7 p.m., police said.

The boy suffered serious injuries to the left side of his body, including multiple fractures and some internal injuries, police said. He was in serious but stable condition as of Thursday morning.

The driver involved, Kimberly Ames Christine, 21, has cooperated with the investigation, police said.

Investigators said the crash was caught on camera. That footage isn't available to the public during the investigation.

Police did say the crosswalk had blinking warning lights activated, and that other drivers had stopped for the crosswalk.

The Springfield Police Major Accident Investigation Team is conducting the investigation.

If anyone has any additional information they are asked to call the Springfield Police Department at 541-726-3714.
