EUGENE, Ore. - The annual parade celebrating all things Eugene steps off at South Eugene High School on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 11 a.m.
The parade takes its usual route north up High Street before turning onto 11th Ave and doubling back on Pearl. | Full map
Unlike last year, however, the parade does not start off Saturday's events at the Eugene Celebration, which was canceled in June.
Kesey Enterprises, which organizes the annual event, said they met some challenges with the 2013 event because closing down streets in downtown could hurt the businesses in the area. Kesey initially held the event in downtown Eugene to help revitalize the area.
The annual Eugene Celebration Parade will be preceded by a pet parade at 10:30 a.m., where our furry friends will take a stroll around the block starting at 12th and High Street.
This year the parade judges will be handing out awards at the the Cuthbert Amphitheater during a live concert featuring Hell's Belles, Zepparella, and Foreverland (three tribute bands covering AC/DC, Led Zeppelin and Michael Jackson).
The Cuthbert's gates open at 4:30 for the Parade Award Ceremony and Concert, with music starting at around 5:30 p.m. | full schedule of events
Tickets for the Cuthbert Concert are $5 plus service fees, and are available online, at Safeway TicketsWest outlets, or at the Cuthbert Box Office.
The 2014 Eugene Celebration Parade is made possible by generous donations by Lane Community College, the Springfield Creamery, the City of Eugene, and Kesey Enterprises.
