4.6 earthquake recorded off southern Oregon Coast

The earthquake struck just before noon Thursday, August 10, 2017.

BROOKINGS, Ore. - A magnitude 4.6 earthquake struck about 90 miles off the Oregon Coast on Thursday.

The quake registered just before noon far beneath the floor of the Pacific Ocean off Brookings, according to USGS records.

No one reported feeling the quake. No tsunami was generated.

The area has seen a cluster of earthquakes in recent weeks, including a 5.1 quake and a 4.6 quake west of Eureka, California, on July 29.
