3rd man jailed in attack on E. Ore. woman, 79
PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) - A third suspect in a home invasion attack on a 79-year-old Eastern Oregon woman has been jailed.
The East Oregonian reports that 19-year-old Jacob Lee White of Walla Walla, Wash., was arrested Wednesday in Idaho, where he was living with his mother in Boise.
He was arraigned Thursday. His lawyer entered not guilty pleas to robbery, kidnapping and burglary charges.
White is accused with two other men. Prosecutors say they plotted to rob Joyce Key, who lived alone outside Milton-Freewater.
Authorities say 20-year-old Matthew Hermann of College Place, Wash., beat her. A Waitsburg, Wash., man, 20-year-old Caleb Scott has also been charged.
Prosecutor Richard Bunney says the three "left her for dead." She was found the next morning bound with duct tape and hospitalized with head injuries.
