20 campers cited for trespassing outside courthouse
EUGENE, Ore. - Twenty people who refused to leave the plaza outside the Lane County Courthouse after it closed for the night face trespassing charges, police said.
The people, part of a protest camp set up by a group advocating for shelter for the homeless, had told police they wished to be arrested.
Police said they gave the people assembled in the Wayne Morse Free Speech Plaza time to clear out, and that 100 people left the plaza when it closed to the public at 11 p.m. The 20 who remained were cited for trespassing.
