Temporary road closures in place for Malheur National Forest during eclipse

Malheur National Forest officials have announced several road closures for the total solar eclipse later this month.

The closures will last from now through Aug. 25, as the forest is in the path of totality.

The closures include paths to eight fire lookout towers and one communication site. Those roads won't be open to car traffic.

Camping will be prohibited within 1,200 feet of a lookout tower and guard station.
