LONGVIEW, Wash. – Divers rescued two dogs that were trapped inside a house boat on the Columbia River after the structure collapsed Tuesday afternoon.

The Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office launched its rescue boat about 4:30 p.m. after getting reports of a sinking house boat off of Willow Grove Road.

While the 9-1-1 caller said they didn’t think anyone was at home, they did mention that two dogs were trapped inside.

Cowlitz Dive Rescue went into the building and rescued two small dogs; the pooches weren’t injured in the collapse.

Deputies are still working to find out who owned the structure.
