Police: Man groped woman near UO on his 35th birthday
EUGENE, Ore. - Police say a man grabbed a woman from behind, grabbed her chest and thrust his hips into her lower back last summer on his 35th birthday.
In the wake of that August 23, 2012, assault and other incidents near campus, the University of Oregon Police Department issued a Campus Crime Alert and a composite sketch of the suspect.
The victim reported that the male suspect approached her while she was walking and asked for directions. When she did not answer and kept walking, the suspect grabbed her.
On Wednesday, February 6, 2013, police took Christopher Warren Mack into custody for questioning. After being interviewed by Violent Crimes Detectives, police booked Mack into the Lane County Jail on one cout of first degree sex abuse.
Mack only faces charges in connection to the August 23 incident on Villard Street, police said. The investigation into three similar assaults remains ongoing, including one that happened 30 minutes prior to the incident in which Mack faces charges.
