Police: $250 in change links teens to burglary
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - Three teens face investigation on burglary charges after they attempted to redeem $250 in change at a local store.
Police in Springfied had alerted retailers to be on the lookout for a large quantity of change after the coins were taken in a residential burglary Monday evening around 7:30 p.m.
Less than an hour later, a Walmart employee called police when three teens entered the store and turned in $250 worth of coins at a Coinstar machine.
Walmart's loss prevention officer followed the teens until police arrived.
Police said investigators have linked the three teens - two aged 17, one 15 - to at least 3 burglaries. Police recovered additional stolen property after interviewing the teens. Police plan to look into whether or not the teens are responsible for other burglaries in the Springfield area.
