Need a life jacket? Borrow one for free
News Release from Albany Fire:
Beginning this Saturday May 29th, the Albany Fire Department will again be conducting our "Loan-A-Life Jacket Program."
Life Jackets can be borrowed from Albany Fire Department Station 11 located at 110 SE 6th Avenue. They are hanging on an outdoor display. There is a form to fill out and fire department staff need not be present in order for you to borrow a jacket. We ask that you return the jackets when you are finished with them so others can use them as needed.
Unintentional injuries are the #1 killer of children under the age of 14 and drowning is the second highest reason for those injuries. We hope to avoid those injuries by having life jackets available. In the five years this program has been in effect we have not had a drowning in the Albany Area.
The Kiwanis have joined us in this injury prevention effort by helping to fund this program this year.
