IKEA recalls 2.6 million children's bed canopies

The Consumer Product Safety Commission reports IKEA is voluntarily recalling 2.6 million children's bed canopies because of a strangulation hazard. The canopies have been sold worldwide, exclusively at IKEA stores, since August 1996.

The concern is that children can pull down the fabric and become entangled.

There have been reports of 9 incidents, including a 7 month old that had the fabric wrapped several times around her neck.

Customers who have the canopies are asked to stop using them immediately and return them to any IKEA store for a full refund.
