Ducks star De'Anthony speaks to students: 'I wanted to be the best'
EUGENE, Ore. -- Ducks football star De'Anthony Thomas spent Thursday hanging out with the students at McCornack Elementary in Eugene.
The Oregon running back came out to the grade school to congratulate the kids on their accomplishments in reading.
Thomas read aloud to students in one classroom and shared with them one of his secrets of success; always keep your eyes on the prize.
"I wanted to be the best I never wanted to lose. When I was younger (I) don't think I lost, not one game when I played little league," De'Anthony Thomas said. "When I went to high school, like we only lost 2 games when I was a freshman."
De'Anthony told the kids he didn't have the easiest life when he was growing up. He hoped to inspire the children with his story, saying that if he can make it to the big leagues, so can they.
