BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - What was supposed to be a fun company picnic in Julia Davis Park turned into a somber accident scene. Crews say a bounce house popped and collapsed on the children inside of it.
Responders called it a freak accident, and many people at the picnic were shocked.
"In my 17 years in EMS, this is the first time I've responded on a bounce house explosion," said Jake Oven, Field Supervisor for Ada County Paramedics.
"I don't know the exact number, but there were many, many children in there," he said.
The accident hurt six kids. They were all minor injuries that were treated on the scene.
And though it ruined the picnic, responders say everyone was just happy the accident wasn't any worse.
"Everyone was pretty scared initially," Oven said, "But once the chaos subsided, everyone's getting along well."
Crews tell KBOI 2News that they can't say why the bounce house exploded.
