Benefit reading to raise money to buy Ken Kesey Collection
A reading of Ken Kesey's unpublished works Thursday night will raise money to keep a collection of typewritten manuscripts, cartoons, art, photos and letters spanning four decades at the University of Oregon.
Tsunami Books on Willamette Street is hosting an event at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Featured readers include Paul Calandrino, Cai Emmons, Miriam Gershow, Cecelia Hagen, Lauren Kessler and Max Rayneard.
"The University of Oregon has the unique opportunity to purchase the Ken Kesey Collection and keep it in its current home, Knight Library, as Kesey wished," event organizers said in a press release. "Without community awareness and support, these papers will be gone from Oregon forever."
