4 hurt in chain-reaction rearend crash
NEWPORT, Ore. - A driver failed to stop for a red light, rear-ending a pickup and pushing the truck into the car in front of it, police said.
The crash sent 4 people to the hopsital.
The crash happened just after 4 p.m. Monday on Highway 101 southbound in Newport, just north of 20th Street.
Tyler Rexroad, 22, of Coos Bay had stopped his 1998 Honda Accordat a red light. Troy Layton, 40, of Toledo stopped behind Rexroad in a 2000 Ford F-350 pickup.
Police said Luella Koerper, 83, of Newport failed to stop her 2004 Honda CRV and crashed into the back of Layton's pickup. The impact pushed the truck into the back of Rexroad's Honda.
All three drivers and Layton's passenger, Jason Blosfsky, 34, of Toleda, were taken by ambulance to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital.
Police cited Koerper for Failing to Obey a Traffic Control Device.
